Meet March 2025’s KFM Teacher of the Month

105.3 KFM along with Nissan of Galesburg congratulates  March’s KFM Teacher of the MonthJosh Fahrenkrog— an English teacher at ROWVA Jr/Sr High School. Josh was nominated by Ella Hollans, who’s a student in his class.  As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Josh receives the Big Red Apple Award with his name engraved on it from Lacky Monuments along with a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank and a bouquet from Cooks-N-Company.  Here’s what Ella had to say about Josh:

What sets this teacher apart from others?
Mr. Fahrenkrog consistently supports ROWVA students both inside and outside the classroom. His unique teaching environment sets him apart from other teachers. The flexible seating in his classroom allows students to feel comfortable and focus on the material being taught. Encouraging signs and pictures on the walls create a bright and positive atmosphere. He plays music during downtime in class and AS/AP sessions, making the environment even more enjoyable. Additionally, he provides a safe space where students feel comfortable talking and venting.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
Mr. Fahrenkrog goes above and beyond to connect with students on a personal level. He consistently makes school an enjoyable and safe place while fostering a love of learning. He shares fascinating stories about ghost hunting, medical facts, various music genres, and more, creating engaging and memorable experiences for his students.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.
At the beginning of the school year, Mr. Fahrenkrog and I made an agreement. Knowing that I want to be a hairdresser when I grow up, he promised that if I maintained good grades during the first semester, he would let me cut his hair. I worked hard and earned straight As, and he kept his word. During AP, he allowed me to give him a haircut, even staying after school so we could finish. He gave me full creative freedom and never put any extra pressure on me. The confidence I gained from this experience is something I will carry with me into adulthood.

Congratulations Josh Fahrenkrog, March’s KFM Teacher of the Month, from Nissan of Galesburg, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks-n-Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM
