Meet the new Galesburg Public Library Director

August 8, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

There will be a “Meet and Greet” Open House for the community to meet our new Galesburg Public Library Director, Noelle Terpening Thompson, on Thursday, August 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the lobby of the library.

Ms. Thompson began her library career at the Leid Scottsbluff Public Library in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where she was director since 2016. A Galesburg native, she was active growing up in both the Performing Arts Academy and Prairie Players. After graduating from Galesburg High School, she took a gap year with Americorps NCCC before continuing her education at Carl Sandburg College and at Monmouth College, from which she received her Bachelor of Arts in English before earning her Masters in Information Science from Rutgers University. She taught English as a Second Language in Korea for a year before doing the same at Carl Sandburg College for two years.  Ms. Thompson said she is “proud of my hometown and believe in the impact the library has on establishing and reinforcing the values that keep Galesburg strong and vibrant.” Her first day as the Galesburg Public Library director was Monday, August 5.
